Medical Office Specialist

The Medical Office Specialist Program prepares the learner to become an efficient and skilled medical office administrative specialist with medical transcribing skills.

Emphasis is placed on the individual becoming a qualified and valuable employee in a medical office practice, medical clinic, or busy medically-oriented business, such as hospitals, insurance companies, medical laboratories, and private and government operated medical records facilities. Special skills will include medical coding, insurance billing, medical transcription, keyboarding, computerized office procedures, and medical terminology. Therefore, the major objective is to produce a graduate capable of performing all the skills of the training program that will result in a marketable individual.

Medical Office Team

Being part of a medical office team is an exciting challenge! You may work with doctors, nurses, therapists or other health care professionals and, of course, patients.

Responsibilities in the medical office vary depending on the position you choose. You might do such things as transcribe dictation, prepare correspondence, assist doctors or medical scientists with reports, speeches and articles, record medical histories, schedule appointments, arrange for patients to be hospitalized or order supplies.

A positive attitude and the ability to communicate well with people are critical. As a member of the medical office team, you will have the opportunity to work with all kinds of people - young and old. Patience, understanding, and a trained listening ear are valuable traits and skills.

Members of the medical office team are crucial to the success of the organization. With the right training, good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude,
you could join a dynamic medical office team.
